KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) today announced the restructuring of the party’s key posts by appointing its former secretary-general Datuk Jahid Jahim as the PBS acting deputy president under the Muslim Bumiputera quota.

PBS president, Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili said to replace Jahid, former Information chief Datuk Joniston Bangkuai was appointed as secretary-general and former assistant secretary-general Datuk Julita Majungki now holds the post of Information Chief.

Meanwhile, he said Tandek State Assemblyman, Hendrus Anding and Telupid Assemblyman Jonnybone Kurum were appointed as assistant secretary-general and assistant Information chief, respectively.

“Supreme Council Member Mursid Mohd Rais is appointed vice president while veterinarian Dr Samuil Mopun is appointed as supreme council member.

“The appointment of Jahid as the second leader of PBS, will not only strengthen the Muslim support for the party, but also ensure that the existing support from Muslim Bumiputeras towards PBS will continue to go up,“ Ongkili said in a statement, here today.

Ongkili said the restructuring proved that PBS listened to requests from supporters of all races to rejuvenate the leadership.

As a multi-racial political party, PBS championed the core struggles, among others upholding the rights of Sabah as enshrined in the 1963 Malaysia Agreement (MA63), combating the presence of illegal immigrants and supporting the Anti Party Hopping Law, he added. — Bernama
