KUALA LUMPUR: Employees Provident Fund (EPF) members who have lost their jobs or suffered pay cuts can withdraw up to RM10,000 from their Account 1, said Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz.

He said contributors may apply to withdraw their funds online or visit any EPF office.

He said the withdrawal is open to eight million members, and each member can now withdraw up to RM10,000.

“Those applying for withdrawals only need to show proof their incomes have been affected.

“From the two million eligible members before this, now more than eight million members will be eligible,” he said during his winding-up speech on the Budget.

Zafrul said the i-Sinar programme has been opened to all members whose incomes have been affected.

This is regardless of whether they lost their jobs or took a pay cut and they qualify to make a withdrawal from their Account 1.
