JOHOR BAHRU: A man was killed, while his friend was seriously injured, when they were hit by a four-wheel drive vehicle while they were believed to be changing a flat tyre at Kilometer Lapan, Jalan Johor Bahru-Ayer Hitam (Skudai bound), yesterday.
Johor Bahru Utara police chief ACP Rupiah Abd Wahid said the incident occurred about 11.15 am.
She said the 55-year-old victim, who was driving a Proton Waja car, and his friend, 40, were heading towards Skudai from Johor Bahru when the car had a flat tyre.
They were believed changing the flat tyre when a Toyota Hilux ,driven by a 49 -year -old man, crashed into them, he said, adding that the victim suffered head injuries and died at the scene, while his friend sustained serious injuries and was sent to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for treatment, she added.
