Minister confident Budget 2021 will be passed

KUALA LUMPUR: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Redzuan Yusof (pix) is confident Budget 2021 will be passed on Thursday without any hiccups as there is enough support for it.

He said the Budget will be a “Perikatan Nasional (PN)” budget.

“If you look at the number of sensible people, we have enough. I cannot say for sure today that we have 120 or 125 MPs in support,” he said while rejecting talks that the Opposition may vote against the budget.

“On average, I see that sensible people understand what the government is doing and they will support us. I’m not worried,” he told reporters in Parliament today .

Redzuan urged MPs to put their political differences aside and focus on working together to improve the Budget and help the people.

He added the Budget can be refined and more funds can be allocated for the people.

The PN government will need a simple majority of 111 to pass the Budget.

There are 220 MPs out of the 222-seat Parliament at present, following the recent deaths of Batu Sapi MP Datuk Liew Vui Keong and Gerik MP Datuk Hasbullah Osman.
