Monday: Heavy rain warnings in Johor, East coast

KUALA LUMPUR: The Meteorological Department of Malaysia (MetMalaysia) today issued a yellow level weather alert warning with heavy rains expected to take place in several areas in Pahang and Johor effective on Monday (Nov 16).

Based on the statement of MetMalaysia director-general Jailan Simon, the areas included Bera, Pekan and Rompin in Pahang and Mersing and Kota Tinggi in Johor.

In addition, Kuantan, the whole of Terengganu and several areas in Kelantan (Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Bachok and Pasir Puteh) were also expected to experience the same weather condition on Tuesday (Nov 17) until Wednesday (Nov 18).

‘’Strong north easterly winds with speeds of 40-50 km/h with waves up to 3.5 metres are expected to take place in the waters of Johor, Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan during the period.

‘’These incidents can pose a risk of overflow of sea water on the coastal areas and river estuaries in the areas in question,’’ said the statement. — Bernama
