Social functions, assemblies not allowed in Sarawak

KUCHING: All social events and assemblies are not allowed in Sarawak during the Movement Control Order (MCO) and Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in force in the state.

The State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) announced the disaster management committees at division level have been ordered to monitor all social activities and assemblies in their respective divisions.

“The directive is with immediate effect,” said JPBN in a statement here today.

At the moment, CMCO is being enforced throughout Sarawak for 14 days from Jan 18 while Sibu is now under MCO from Jan 16 to 29.

Today, Sarawak recorded 203 positive Covid-19 cases, taking the overall total positive cases in the state to 2,570.

Meanwhile, JPBN announced that Kanowit district has changed its status from orange to red after 73 local transmissions were detected in the area in the past 14 days.

“The district of Dalat has changed from yellow to orange zone with 22 local infections reported while the districts of Serian and Pakan have also shifted their status from green to yellow,” it said. — Bernama
