PETALING JAYA: Police nabbed a total of 523 offenders for flouting the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) yesterday.

Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said 483 were issued compounds and another 40 were remanded.

“Of the 523, a total of 365 involved in nightclub or pub activities, 105 individuals failed to adhere to social distancing, 38 did not wear face masks, 20 premises failed to provide customers with registration books or QR code to record entry and four illegal immigrants were caught as of yesterday,” he said in a press statement issued today.

Ismail Sabri said the police had conducted checks at 45,847 premises to ensure that they are following the SOP under RMCO which included 3,893 restaurants, 3,213 supermarkets, 520 government offices, 1,011 factories and 2,896 banks.

Apart from that, 75 illegal immigrants were detained during the operations against illegal immigration.

He also said a total of 98 roadblocks had been carried out under during the Benteng operation.

A total of 35,991 individuals had returned to the country and to date 103 individuals were sent to the hospital after tested positive while 8,349 were going through the mandatory 14-day quarantine period at designated centres.

To date, a total of 27,539 individuals were allowed to go home after undergoing the mandatory 14-day quarantine.

Besides that, Ismail Sabri announced that Melur Zone in Amanjaya, Kedah has ended its Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) period as scheduled today.

“The EMCO period for Amanjaya ends today after there are no additional positive Covid-19 cases were reported within 13 days since Sept 14,” he said..
