SERDANG: Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo today reminded the people that the poor and needy groups who need assistance should not be forgotten when celebrating the Chinese New Year this weekend.

He said contributions to the less fortunate groups would help to cheer them up during the festival.

“As a multi-racial community, the people should try to come to the aid of the needy during the various festivals celebrated in the country,” he told reporters at MYNIC Bhd corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme at Pusat Jagaan Orang Tua Wan Hing, here today.

Under the #MYNICCARES programme, Gobind Singh, who is also Puchong MP, presented MYNIC contributions in the form of electrical equipment and beds worth RM10,000, as well as kitchen utensils for the old folks home which has 30 inmates.

In the programme, the #MYNICCARES team also helped to brighten up the premises by giving the home a new coat of paint and cleaning up its surrounding areas.

Meanwhile, MYNIC chief executive officer Datuk Hasnul Fadhly Hasan said MYNIC is planning more CSR programmes via #MYNICCARES in 2020.
