PETALING JAYA: A total of 93 individuals were arrested for violating standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the recovery movement control order (RMCO) yesterday.
Of this number, 85 were issued compounds while eight were remanded.
Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pix) said the offences with the most number of violators were not wearing face masks (33) and lack of social distancing (32).
“Other offences committed included pub and nightclub activities (14) premises operating without authorisation (seven) failure to provide equipment or facilities for check-in purposes (six), and failure to provide documentation at an area under enhanced movement control order (one),” he said.
The arrests were part of the 56,758 inspections carried out by the police’s Compliance Operations Task Force yesterday on premises including supermarkets, transport terminals, government offices, banks, restaurants and hawker centres.
Ismail Sabri said that Ops Benteng, under the National Task Force involving the police, army, maritime enforcement agency, and the border control agency, yesterday made 69 arrests.
“The arrests included three boat captains, one suspected smuggler and 65 illegal immigrants. Fourteen land vehicles were also seized.
“Meanwhile, 82 roadblocks were also conducted nationwide in order to curb the entry of illegal immigrants,” he said.
Ismail Sabri also announced that between July 24 and yesterday, a total of 30,717 individuals had returned to Malaysia from overseas.
“Of the total, 9,735 are undergoing mandatory quarantine while 71 individuals have been sent to hospitals for treatment. A total of 20,893 have been discharged and allowed to go home,” he added.
He also said that eight sanitation operations were carried out yesterday, covering two red zones, one yellow zone and four green zones in Sabah, Sarawak, Pahang, Kedah and Malacca.
