Azmin has statement recorded by police

KUALA LUMPUR: Economic Affairs Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali (pix) has given his statement to the police yesterday on a lewd clip allegedly involving him.

Azmin’s lawyer, N. Surendran, in a statement today, said the Minister’s office had been contacted by police on Sunday to record his statement as part of the investigation.

“I refer to the investigations resulting from the police report lodged by the political secretary of the Minister of Economic Affairs Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, calling for an investigation into the circulation of the notorious fake sex videos. The videos are a slanderous and politically motivated attack upon him.

“There are obvious signs of an organised and systematic attempt to discredit and bring down the minister with this false and malicious attack. The perpetrators had access to leaked personal data of party members, sophisticated means and a clear political agenda. We trust the police will get to the bottom of this soon, and identify and take action against the culprits according to law,“ he said.

On June 11, Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz – the private secretary of Deputy Primary Industries Minister Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin – who is under suspension now had publicly confessed that he and Azmin were the two men in a lewd video that had been widely spread on social media.

So far, Azmin has strongly denied the accusations, calling it a nefarious plot to assassinate his reputation and character in an attempt to destroy his political career.
