BELURAN: A male Canadian motorcyclist died after his machine was involved in a collision with a four-wheel-drive vehicle at Km 24, Kota Ranau-Telupid Road, near Kampung Mangkadait, here yesterday.
In the incident at 1.30pm, Beluran OCPD, Supt Kasim Muda said the victim identified as Ryan Saunders, 40, died at the scene of the incident.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim rode a Honda Hornet 250F from the direction of Ranau heading towards Telupid.
“Upon arriving at a bend, Ryan who was riding at high speed wanted to overtake a vehicle in front, but he had instead crashed into a Nissan Navara vehicle from the opposite direction,” he said in a statement, here yesterday.
Kasim said the police were trying to trace the next of kin of the victim through the embassy to attend the post-mortem process and claim the body.
Meanwhile, he said the driver of the Nissan Navara, a Frenchman sustained only light injuries while another passenger escaped injury. - Bernama
