Ex-reality TV star charged with robbing senior citizens

MALACCA: A former Kilauan Emas 3 participant and her friends were today charged at the sessions court here today for committing gang robberies in December last year.

Reality TV star Jamaliah Saadun, 48, and her accomplices, Mohd Idris Yasmir, 34, and Muhammad Dhirar Raihan, 33, pleaded not guilty after their charges were read before judge Elesabet Paya Wan.

They were charged with robbing senior citizen, M. Kesavann, 60, of a gold chain, cash money and a car with losses amounting to about RM24,680 in his house at Jalan Seri Emas 50, Taman Teluk Mas here at 3am on Dec 15, 2019.

The charges were made under Section 395 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same code which provides for a maximum of 20 years in jail and whipping upon conviction.

Judge Elesabet did not allow bail for the three accused and set Feb 10 for remention.

At a separate sessions court, Jamaliah was again charged, this time with woman accomplice, Madura Mahat, 40, on charges of robbing senior citizen, Muhammad Miskeen Kind Marhoom, 70, of his mobile phone and injuring him by dragging the victim with a car near Jalan Seri Mangga 8, Taman Seri Mangga at 11.25am on Dec 18, 2019.

The offence was charged under Section 394 of the Penal Code read together with Section 34 of the same code which carries a maximum of 20 years jail and fine or whipping if found guilty.

Judge Norma Ismail allowed both accused bail at RM10,000 each in one surety and set Feb 6 for remention.

Prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Hayatul Wirdah Mohd Yunos and Intan Lyiana Zainal Abidin, while Jamaliah, Mohd Idris and Muhammad Dhirar were represented by lawyer Sheikh Ikhzan Sheikh Salleh. - Bernama
