KUALA LUMPUR: Heads of state governments hope the joyous Hari Raya Aidilfitri can be celebrated in moderation, amidst a reminder that the struggle of Muslim brothers in Palestine against Zionist tyranny, not be forgotten by the Ummah.

In Selangor, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari invited the people to continue the good practices that have been cultivated during the month of Ramadan, such as caring for the poor, the orphaned and the less fortunate.

He said moderation should be displayed not only through actions but also through common sense and thoughts so that the younger generation can inherit a similar culture and moral and thus be able to give birth to a generation with dignity and vision.

In Terengganu, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar echoed the same sentiment, saying Aidilfitri would be more meaningful if it was celebrated in moderation based on the current situation of most Malaysians, while advising parents to prioritise their children’s school expenses and Aidilfitri preparations.

In the meantime, he reminded the community not to forget the people in Palestine who are still fighting to defend their homeland.

In Perak, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad also reminded the community to not forget the struggle of the Muslim brothers in Palestine in the excitement of ushering Aidilfitri, saying that prayer is the most powerful weapon so that ‘Allah SWT’ will always protect them from Zionist tyranny.

“As we rejoice in Aidilfitri, don’t forget to pray for those who have passed on, also leave prayers for the people of Palestine who are being tested with suffering, oppression and driven from their own homeland,“ he said through a recording uploaded on his Facebook post today.

In Penang, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow asked the people to strengthen family ties and strengthen bonds of friendship regardless of religious background, race, political party or culture in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

In his message, he hoped to continue witnessing the values of love, unity, tolerance and celebrating the long-rooted diversity in the state blossoming, so that the development of the state will be more comprehensive with the infusion of human values.

In Malacca, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the state government agreed to implement a number of initiatives in conjunction with Aidilfitri this year, involving free parking for a week and reduction of compound and summon rates in four local authority administrative areas (PBT) in addition to the postponement of disconnecting water supply by Syarikat Air Melaka Berhad (SAMB).

“Hopefully, with this help, we can bring joy to everyone in the family in celebrating Aidilfitri in Malacca,” he said via his Facebook page tonight.

In Negri Sembilan, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun prayed that this year’s Aidilfitri would be more meaningful for all the people in the state and welcome it with joy together with their beloved families, while encouraging the tradition of visiting to strengthen bonds of friendship and unity.

“I humbly clasp my hands together in seeking forgiveness from all the people of Negeri Sembilan for all my misgivings while governing this state. Indeed, I always guard this heavy trust because it taught me the true meaning of being entrusted with the will of the people from various backgrounds,“ he said through a post on his Facebook page.

In Kedah, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor in his message welcomed the return of Kedahans from abroad to celebrate Raya in their hometown, while reminding citizens of the state to exercise caution when on the road.

“Even though the holiday is synonymous with joy, we should not be excessive in celebrating it because in Islam, it is prescribed as a worship and not a mere cultural tradition. I also ask all Kedahans to give priority to safety, especially on the roads,“ he said.

In Pahang, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail in his Aidilfitri message invited all the citizens to come together and strengthen unity that has been forged and avoid conflicts that can destroy the prevailing harmony.

“In conjunction with this glorious day, let us forgive each other and celebrate Aidilfitri together in an atmosphere of gratitude, happiness, goodwill and mutual respect for each other. May Aidilfitri this time bring grace and blessings to all of us,“ he said while wishing ‘A Selamat Hari Raya serta maaf zahir dan batin’ to all the people in the state.

In Perlis, Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli in his Aidilfitri message which was uploaded on his Facebook tonight, hoped Muslims would celebrate this festival with gratitude and simplicity by avoiding extravagance and to share sustenance with the needy.

In Kelantan, Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud in his Aidilfitri message said the Kelantan government will continue to practise the strategy of ‘Developing Islam Together’ to uphold Islamic policy in any aspect of society.

Therefore, he called on the entire community in Kelantan in all segments, whether married or not, to work together with the state government in making this mission a success and enliven Hari Raya Aidilfitri with worship to ‘Allah SWT’ when performing Aidilfitri prayers and the supplications of ‘berzikir, bertasbih, bertahmid, beristighfar dan juga bersedekah (charity)’.
