KUALA LUMPUR: The Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor (KLSCCCI) organised a flag raising ceremony and a Jalur Gemilang distribution activity today in conjunction with the 62nd National Day celebrations.

The event, which was held at Wisma Chinese Chamber, was aimed at promoting flag raising in order to instil patriotism and unity among Malaysians and also to celebrate Malaysia Day.

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Wira Dr Md Farid Md Rafik was the guest of honour.

More than 500 flags and tee-shirts were distributed to road users and passers-by along Jalan Ampang.

In conjunction with the event, KLSCCCI launched the MyHero Award 3.0 social media voting campaign.

Members of the public will get a chance to vote for the most suitable candidate to receive the award which honours individuals who have undertaken courageous acts and have contributed to society.

Voting will be open from today until Oct 3 and can be done via the MyHero facebook page by liking the picture of their preferred candidate.

The most popular MyHero will be given a trophy and a certificate.

Cash vouchers worth RM100 each will be given to 10 winners who share the most stories of their candidate.

The top five recipients of the award will be announced on Sept 11 at a ceremony at the Seng Peng Hall at Wisma Chinese Chambers.
