SEMPORNA: The Marine Police Force (PPM) seized 12 plastic jerrycans containing petrol, which is believed to be for smuggling to the Philippines, and were hidden in an empty house in Kampung Pulau Kulapuan, near here.

In the 11am raid, Sabah Region 4 PPM Commander ACP Mohamad Pajeri Ali said the seizure was the result of information gathered by the Marine Intelligence Unit who detected the house as a transit store for contraband goods.

“We are tracking on the mastermind,“ he said in a statement here, today.

He noted that all seized items were taken to the Semporna PPM Base for further action and the case was being investigated under Section 21 of the Supply Area Act 1961.

Meanwhile, in TAWAU, Mohamad Pajeri said members of Op Gelora found a suspicious-looking pile of boxes at the CIQ Old Pier at 11.30am.

From the inspections, the boxes contained various types of medicine believed to be smuggled from neighbouring countries, he said.

“The medicines include 20 bottles of HPA Malac (1,500 capsules); 160 bottles of HPA Herba Pelawas (12,000 capsules); 130 bottles of HPA Mengkudu (9,750 capsules), 80 bottles of HPA Kapsul Pendingin (4,800 capsules), 140 bottles of HPA Herba Tuju Angin (10,500 capsules); 120 bottles of HPA HB (7,200 capsules); and 30 bottles of HPA Paramaria Plus HPA (2,250 capsules),“ he added.

He said that during the inspection, none of the owners of the boxes came to claim it and therefore, the confiscated goods were taken to the Tawau PPM Base for further action.

“The confiscated items worth RM 41,850 will be handed over to the Sabah Health Ministry Pharmaceutical Department, for further action,“ he said. — Bernama
