SHAH ALAM: The upcoming development of the PKNS Square project in Seksyen 14 is poised to invigorate the economy and rejuvenate activities in Shah Alam city centre, said Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

Amirudin, who also chairs the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), said the RM2 billion urban rejuvenation project in Shah Alam, spearheaded by PKNS, aims to energise economic and social activities in the city centre and its vicinity, particularly after 9 pm.

“As the capital of Selangor, Shah Alam City needs to be vibrant with social and entertainment activities at night, as seen in several other areas, including Seksyen 2, 7, 13, and 16.

“The objective of this project in Seksyen 14 is to breathe new life into Shah Alam City centre and its surrounding areas, which are perceived to become less lively at night, in line with its status as the state capital of Selangor,” he said.

Amirudin made these remarks while addressing reporters at the PKNS Jalinan Aidilfitri event held at the Shah Alam Convention Centre, where he was joined by PKNS chief executive officer Datuk Mahmud Abbas.

Mahmud previously said the urban rejuvenation project in Shah Alam is set to commence close to the Dato Menteri light rail transit 3 (LRT 3) station, with plans to enhance buildings in the area.

The project, Mahmud added, will encompass several plots in Seksyen 14’s city centre, including the Shah Alam PKNS Complex, SACC Mall, and adjacent plots near the LRT 3 station.

The Jalinan Aidilfitri event was attended by 3,000 guests, including strategic partners from banking, real estate, local authorities, government departments, and media, as well as PKNS management and department heads.
