IPOH: Police have busted the ‘Honda City’ or Ah Leong gang with the arrest of three individuals, including a woman in a raid on a house in Meru Valley, Jelapang, on Sunday.

The gang was believed to have been active in house break-ins for the past six months. They carried out their activities in the evenings using the same Honda City car and targetted guarded and gated housing areas.

Ipoh district police chief ACP A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz said the two male suspects, aged 38 and 48, and the woman, 41, were all unemployed.

Investigations found the group had been involved in 12 burglary cases around Ipoh, Sungai Siput, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

“We are also investigating whether the gang was involved in the house break-in at Perak executive councillor, Paul Yong Choo Kiong’s home in Bandar Meru Raya in December.

“Investigations found that the 48-year-old suspect from Pasir Putih, Kelantan, has 14 previous crime cases related to drugs and burglary and is a Prevention of Crime Act (Poca) detention escapee in June last year,” he told a press conference at the Ipoh district police headquarters, here today.

A. Asmadi said the 38-year-old suspect also had three previous criminal records related to drugs while the female suspect had no criminal record.

During the raid, police seized 34 items such as cell phones, laptops, watches, a necklace, and a Honda City car, all estimated to be worth RM116,100.

He said the suspects had been remanded for five days from Monday and the case was being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code. - Bernama
