PETALING JAYA: Two Mongolian women have alleged that they were raped by a police officer, who had stopped them at a movement control order (MCO) roadblock here on Saturday.

Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the matter came to light after they received information on two women being held by force at a hotel last night.

“We planned and launched an operation. Following surveillances, we had managed to rescue the women in a raid.

“Upon further investigations and interviewing the victims, a police inspector who was on duty in Petaling Jaya was arrested,“ Ezanee said, adding that the victims are aged 20 and 37.

He added that both the victims were unable to converse in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Police had to engage a third party for translation.

“Forensic medical tests were conducted on the victims and they are now in the custody of Bukit Aman’s Sexual, Women and Child Investigations Division (D11),” Ezanee said.

“We obtained a five-day a remand order on the 30-year-old suspect and he is being investigated for rape under Section 376 of the Penal Code.”

Ezanee said that forensics personnel have completed investigations at the hotel and said that he is confident of solving the case soon.

“I am disappointed with what has happened. I assure that strict punishment in accordance with existing laws will be meted out on the officer,” he said.

He said that based on preliminary investigations, the victims are suspected to be involved in the vice activities.

“However, in this case, both women are the victims and we will proceed to apply for an Interim Protection Order for them from the magistrate,“ he added.
