Police probing incident of journalist house splashed with red paint

GEORGE TOWN: The police are investigating an incident where the house gate and a car belonging to a news portal journalist were splashed with red paint in Island Glade, Gelugor, here today.

Timur Laut Police chief ACP Soffian Santong said the woman’s mother who went out to water plants in front of the one-storey terrace house, at about 8am, discovered that the house gate and the victim’s car were splashed with red paint.

“The victim who was inside the house immediately went out and saw the paint splashes before reporting the incident as she was worried about her and her mother’s safety who live in the house.

“This is the first time such incident had ever happen to them since they live there for about 10 years,“ he told Bernama here.

He said the journalist had no idea why her house was targeted.

Soffian said the woman had never received any threat before, however two weeks ago, a stranger on a motorcycle rode up to her house, rang her doorbell twice and sped off.

Meanwhile, the victim, Susan Loone, 56, who is also Malaysiakini assistant editor said this could be over something she had written about. — Bernama
