KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) has recorded 568 cases involving various offences from January to April this year.

Its director Georgie Abas (pix, left) said the seized items were valued at RM399,775.47.

“The total amount of court fines and compounds collected are RM225,000 and RM64,450 for the same period,” he said in a statement today.

Georgie said during the same period, 533 complaints were recorded and of the total, 486 (91.16 per cent) were resolved while another 47 complaints (8.81 per cent) were still under investigation.

Among the highest complaints received were related to price issues (207 cases), online transactions (146 cases), misleading services (69 cases), motor vehicle workshops (23 cases) and controlled items (nine cases), he said.

Meanwhile, he said Sabah KPDNHEP has implemented the Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme (SHMMP) during the month of Ramadan for 30 days from April 21 to May 29, involving 10 types of goods.- Bernama
