SUNGKAI: Wanita Umno chief Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad (pix) said it is up to the party leadership if they want to field a woman candidate for the Slim state by-election.
She said the Umno women’s wing was not only ready to be nominated in the Slim by-election but also in any by-election.
“In fact, the Wanita Umno machinery has always been mobilised early in preparation for each by-election,“ she told reporters at the Ziarah Kasih Skuad Sayang3k programme at Felda Residence in Trolak here today.
Noraini, who is also Higher Education Minister, said Ziarah Kasih Skuad Sayang which is synonymous with Wanita Umno was launched today in preparation for the Slim by-election.
The Slim state by-election will be held on Aug 29 following the death of incumbent Datuk Mohd Khusairi Abdul Talib on July 15 due to heart attack. — Bernama
