KUALA LUMPUR: Water supply to 372, 031 consumers in four districts — Petaling, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat and Sepang, which was disrupted due the Sungai Semenyih water treatment plant having to shut down because of odour pollution of its raw water supply on Saturday, has been fully restored.

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) in a statement here said this was based on monitoring of the plant’s service reservoir and water pressure on the distribution system as at noon today.

As to complaints on water quality, the utility confirmed that the treated water supplied met quality standards set by the ministry and was attested to by sampling done at 120 premises as at noon.

The source of the odour pollution is alleged to have been due to illegal disposal of waste into the sewerage system of Indah Water Consortium’s Sewage Treatment Plant in Bukit Mahkota.

Consumers in these districts can forward complaints or seek assistance regarding water supply via smartphone application ‘Air Selangor’, the short-messaging system (SMS) to 15300 or WhatsApp at numbers 019-281 6793 / 019-280 0919. — Bernama
