SIME DARBY PROPERTY Bhd will hold a concert at its new township next year, and it is free.
The concert, which is scheduled to take place at Elmina Central Park on Jan 19, will feature Shane Filan, the former lead singer and frontman of Irish boy band Westlife.
Sime Darby Property general manager Apollo Leong said that the free concert is part of the City of Elmina’s township brand campaign that promotes wellness and lifestyle in the development along the Guthrie Corridor.
However, that’s not all. The concert will also feature well-known Malaysian singer and celebrity Nur Fazura, as well as a mystery performer.
Although it has not been officially confirmed, Fazura did hint that her husband, Fattah Amin, may be performing with her on stage at the event as well.
According to the organisers, there will also be a plethora of games and activities tailored for families from 5.30pm onwards, prior to the Elmina Lakeside Concert 2019 which is slated to begin at 8pm.
Some of these events include hot-air balloon rides, fire-eater shows, 12D cinema shows, an inflatable obstacle course, food trucks, and more.
The concert will also mark the opening of the first 36 acres of the 300-acre Elmina Central Park.
“We aspire to position the township as a world-class city that promotes sustainability, wellness and liveability, thus becoming a benchmark to other township developments,” said Leong in his speech.
Universal Music Malaysia managing director Kenny Ong added: “We’ve been planning this collaboration for at least half a year. Sime Darby wanted to do something musical, something big, and Universal was the perfect partner for that. We are very proud to be associated with Sime Darby.”
