Report: Packers to sit RB Jones (calf) vs. Texans

25 Oct 2020 / 11:22 H.

The Green Bay Packers plan to sit running back Aaron Jones against the Houston Texans on Sunday with a calf strain, the Green Bay Press-Gazette reported.

Jones was listed as questionable on the injury report released Friday. He said he is aiming to play in Houston and coach Matt LaFleur indicated a willingness to wait as long as possible to make a decision.

Jamal Williams and AJ Dillon would get the bulk of the carries if Jones is sidelined. The Packers also promoted Dexter Williams from the practice squad.

Jones ranks 10th in the NFL with 389 rushing yards. He is averaging 5.2 yards per carry and has seven total touchdowns (five rushing, two receiving).

The Packers also activated rookie linebacker Kamal Martin from injured reserve. Martin missed five games after suffering a knee injury that required surgery. Martin was on track to be a starter in training camp prior to the injury.

Two-time Pro Bowl left tackle David Bakhtiari (chest) is listed as doubtful. He was injured during last Sunday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and didn't practice at all this week.

The Packers ruled out running back Tyler Ervin (wrist) and defensive lineman Tyler Lancaster (shoulder). The team listed cornerback Kevin King (quadriceps) and safety Darnell Savage (quadriceps) as doubtful.

Joining Jones as questionable are defensive lineman Montravius Adams (foot), center Corey Linsley (back), linebacker Preston Smith (shoulder) and tight end Robert Tonyan (ankle).
