Covid-19: One death, 1,304 new cases

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia reported a total of 1,304 new Covid-19 cases today with one death recorded.

This brings the national tally to 45,095 positive Covid-19 cases with 11,822 active cases while the death toll has increased to 304.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said during his daily media briefing today that Sabah continued to record the largest number of cases with 556.

“Selangor alone reported 364 cases while Kuala Lumpur has a total of 202 cases recorded today,“ he said.

Negri Sembilan reported 83 cases , Penang 42, Sarawak, Perak and Malacca with 13 cases each, Kedah and Kelantan recorded five each, Labuan had four , Johor with three and Putrajaya one.

He said out of today’s 1,304 cases, four were imported cases involving three from Saudi Arabia and one from Egypt.

They were detected in Selangor (three) and one in Kuala Lumpur.

The death case was a 70-year old man who died in Sabah and had a history of high blood pressure.

There were 900 recoveries today, taking the number of patients that had been discharged to 32,969.

However 96 patients are still in the Intensive Care Units where 39 of them require ventilator assistance.
