SHAH ALAM: The high tide phenomenon which hit the coastal areas of Selangor today was reported under control even though there were slight overflow of seawater reported in several areas in the state.

Selangor Disaster Management Unit in a statement said the overflow of seawater however did not affect local residents in the areas.

“As at 6am, there were no incident of high tide phenomenon and situation was under control following fair weather today.

“There were only reports of minor overflow at Istana Pantai Bahagia, Kuala Langat; Jeram jetty (Kuala Selangor) and Kampung Baru Telok Gong (Klang),“ he said.

According to the statement, there was a leak in Kampung Tok Muda, Klang, however the situation was reported safe as the bund was far from local resident settlement.

The four districts, Kuala Langat, Sepang, Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam were put on high alert as preparation for high tide with risks strong winds and heavy rain.

The unit also said the high tide phenomenon was expected to occur from Sept 1 and 2 , Sept 29 to Oct 2 and from Oct 20 to 30 on the coastal areas of Selangor with high tides exceeding 5.7m high. — Bernama
