KOTA BHARU: The Kelantan government has allocated RM3 million to help asnaf (tithe recipients) affected by the Movement Control Order (MCO) enforced to curb the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak in the state.

State Welfare, Women and Family Development Committee chairman Datuk Mumtaz Md Nawi said the allocation would also be distributed to single mothers and orphans in the state.

Mumtaz said the assistance would be distributed to the eligible recipients starting next week.

“We hope this contribution can ease their burden,“ she told reporters after opening a drive-thru tithe distribution programme for 310 asnaf families and orphans organised by Yayasan Amal Dato’ Zul Wisma in Seterpa, Peringat here today.

Mumtaz told reporters that another aid programme would be established by the committee called CAKNA Hawa to help working women affected by Covid-19, adding that the state government would extend other assistance initiatives to the people including traders and villagers.

On the rising Covid-19 daily cases in the state, she urged people from all walks of life to continue adhering to the standard operating procedures under the new norm.

Mumtaz said Kelantan people should not be afraid to get vaccinated as it could reduce the risk of infections, adding that they should not be influenced by talks against taking the vaccines that would cause problems to other people. — Bernama
