King attends Munaqasyah session at Istana Negara

KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah (pix) today attended the Munaqasyah of State Islamic Affairs Management at Istana Negara here.

The nearly three-hour Munaqasyah session was held to discuss and finetune issues of Islamic affairs in the states under the auspices of His Majesty and strengthening religious agencies in each state.

The states are Pahang, Federal Territories, Penang, Malacca, Sabah and Sarawak as provided in Articles 3 (2), 3 (3) and 3 (5) of the Federal Constitution.

The session was also attended by Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) director-general Datuk Mohamad Nordin Ibrahim, Malaysian Syariah Judiciary Department director-general Datuk Dr Mohd Naim Mokhtar, chairmen of state Islamic religious councils, state muftis, state Syariah chief judges and directors of state Islamic religious departments.

Among the working paper and briefings presented to His Majesty are on issues concerning MyInsanniah programme and the roles of public institutions of higher learning in the country’s halal eco-system.

The resolution from the Munaqasyah session would be summarised in the form of a report by His Majesty for discussion at the 255th Conference of Rulers scheduled for Oct 30 and 31. — Bernama
