SHAH ALAM: Invest Selangor Bhd entered into a memorandum of agreement today with Malaysia Green Technology Corp (GreenTech Malaysia) to introduce its strengths and capabilities as the gateway to Asean via its participation in the World Expo Dubai 2020 under the Malaysia Pavilion.

Under the agreement, Selangor will utilise a space of 12,000 sq ft to host investment promotion forums and networking activities.

GreenTech was appointed by the Energy, Science, Technology, Environment & Climate Change Ministry (Mestecc) as the implementing agency for the Malaysia Pavilion at the expo.

Mestecc revealed that it aims to attract RM10 billion in potential trade and investments, to capture 1,000 business leads with 20 memorandum of understanding or partnership agreement throughout the six-month long duration at the World Expo.

Selangor will participate in week 24 of the expo, from March 28, 2021 to April 3, 2021.

With regard to Selangor’s investment achievement, the state’s exco member for investment, industry and SME Datuk Teng Chang Khim revealed that it has secured RM16.4 billion in investment for the nine months from January to September of last year.

“For 2020, we are aiming to secure RM12 billion in investment, an increase from the RM10 billion target set in 2019,“ he told the media at the signing ceremony today.

For the World Expo, he said the state aims to attract investment in the cluster of machinery, transportation, food and beverage, life sciences as well as electric and electronic.
