Police nab two men with 600kg ketum leaves worth RM18,000

ALOR STAR: Police detained two men and seized 600 kilogrammes of ketum leaves in 120 packets, estimated to be worth at RM18,000, at Jalan Batu 27, Naka, Padang Terap, earlier this morning.

Padang Terap district police chief DSP Noh Idris said the two men, aged 19 and 27, were nabbed in a Toyota Hiace van at 2.30am.

“We stopped the van in an operation dubbed Op Tapis and the inspection found 120 black plastic packets containing ketum leaves which were wrapped with transparent plastic in the back of the van.

“Both men, from Kota Bharu, Kelantan, were taken to Padang Terap district police headquarters for further action together with the case items,” he said in a statement here today. — Bernama
